The Revolution Begins!

On November 1, the Valley Forge Chapter set up an #American250! LEGO® display at the Wissahickon Valley Public Library (@wvplibrary) to highlight events in 1774 and 1775 leading up to the American Revolution.

Our story of the beginning of the revolution is depicted with five (5) scenes:
🏠 Occupation of Boston
⏰ Powder Alarm
💥 Battle of Lexington and Concord
🏰 Siege of Boston
🚂 Noble Artillery Train

Relevant books were featured alongside each scene. The display will be available at the library during the month of November.

@bobbi.y.riley, America 250! Chair, designed and created the LEGO® buildings and scenes. @janczukc and @steph.baylitts helped with display design and installation.

#TBT to our Homecoming 250 event with the Veterans at the Whitehall Apartments in Spring City, PA on May 14th.

Homecoming 250 celebrates the 250th anniversaries of the founding of the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. We celebrated the milestone anniversaries with lunch and fun activities centered around the history of the two military branches.

On Saturday, Aug 2, @historictrappe unveiled their #America250PA Bell now located on the lawn in front of the Speaker’s House on Main Street.

The Bell is part of @america250_pa Semiquincentennial Bells Across PA program that will feature decorated bells throughout the 67 counties of PA.

The Historic Trappe bell was sponsored by Valley Forge Chapter, DAR and the Borough of Trappe. Local artist @ltshortfolkart designed and painted the bell based on PA German fraktur and patriotic American motifs. The bell’s message “Liberty and Justice for All” is simple and meaningful and the front eagle emulates the Great Seal of the United States with its olive branches and arrows.

Our Regent, Deb Stilley, spoke at the unveiling conveying how honored we were to be part of this wonderful project. Also bringing greetings were @senatorpennycuick, Trappe Mayor Matthew Wismer, and Historic Trappe Historian @declarationlady. Chapter America250 Committee Chair, Bobbi Riley, presented Historic Trappe with the DAR America250! Medal and Commendation given to those who have demonstrated extraordinary efforts to not only honor the men and women who achieved American Independence, but also to educate others about their service and sacrifice.

Valley Forge DAR presented their “The Shot Heard ‘Round The World - Lego Edition” children’s program at @phxville_library yesterday.

2025 celebrates the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution and the program highlighted the background issues and causes leading up to those first battles using Legos. To start, the participants moved to America by purchasing shares in the Massachusetts Bay Company and built their Lego homesteads outside of Boston. They were then assigned to play special historical figures, like Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, Willam Brattle, John Parker, Francis Smith, and Thomas Gage. Major events such as the Powder Alarm, the Battles at Lexington and the North Bridge in Concord, and the rout of the British Troops as they retreated to Boston came to life as the Lego figures help tell the stories.

The day ended with the colonial militia surrounding Boston and the Continental Congress appointing George Washington as Commander-in-Chief of the new Continental Army.

Local area Girl Scouts and Valley Forge DAR, partnered to create a @littlefreelibrary location at @st.johns.lutheran.church.phx

Girl Scout Troop 41766 donated over 300 books to keep the library well stocked. The scouts asked teachers, family, and friends to help collect the books.

“The Little Free Library will be a wonderful community resource on our campus.” stated Pastor Russ Crouthamel, St. John’s lead pastor.
